Greyton is a charming little town along the picturesque R406 approximately 90 minutes from Cape Town. It was founded in 1854 when several large farms were combined to form an agricultural village. The town is full of character with oak tree-lined lanes, gravel roads, beautifully restored buildings, quaint cottages, and pretty gardens. There are lots of eateries, antique and craft shops and art galleries. Situated at the base of the Riviersonderend ("River Without End") mountain range deep in the countryside, Greyton is popular with nature lovers. Walk, hike, bird watch, fish, and if you're there on a Sunday visit the craft market.
