Situated on the eastern slopes of Table Mountain, Kirstenbosch is one of the most beautiful botanic gardens in the world. It was the first in the world devoted to indigenous flora. More than 7 000 of South Africa's 22 000 plant species grow here. Numerous themed walks and areas provide an introduction to the indigenous flora. Explore the cycad and fragrance gardens. Find the remains of the wild almond and bramble hedge planted 1660 to protect the colony perimeter.
