Signal Hill was once the place from which signal flags were used to communicate with ships that passed and visited the bay. It's also the place from which the Noon Day gun is fired. Signal Hill forms the "lion's body", a series of hills below Lion's Head, and is often referred to as Lion's Rump. It offers striking views of Cape Town harbour and family-friendly picnic spots.
