Known as the "Pearl of the Overberg" Villiersdorp lies on the R321 in a picturesque valley alongside the Theewaterskloof Dam. The dam is the seventh largest in South Africa. Villiersdorp is named after Pieter de Villiers, a local farmer who established the town in 1843. You'll find plenty of fruit orchards and vineyards and there's much to see and do. Take a catamaran trip on the Theewaterskloof dam, which also provides excellent bass and trout fishing. There are more than 70 species of birds, two well-known hiking trails, nature walks, and some good 4X4 routes.
